The Iranian nuclear program has been a long time in the international spotlight. There were real fears that Iran could develop nuclear weapons, and this would lead to catastrophic consequences in the Middle East and the world at large.

At the same time, the majority of experts were sure that it was impossible to avoid such an undesirable scenario, because for a long time Iran categorically did not agree to at least minimal concessions on its nuclear program (including the military one).
