Students of the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) visited Odessa in the frame of seminar “States and Societies in Transition – History Threats and Opportunities. The Case of Ukraine and Georgia 2016” on 4-8 of June, 2016.
This seminar was organized by Professor Nikolas Hayoz from Department of Social Sciences Interfaculty Institute for Central and Eastern Europe, Vice Dean of Faculty of Arts and Humanities of University of Fribourg with the support of Swiss Study Foundation.
Iryna Maksymenko, Senior Research Fellow of the Center for International Studies, was a local organizer and arranged the meetings at Odessa Mechnikov National University and acquaintance with Odessa and its culture as well.
Volodymyr Dubovyk, the Director of the Center for International Studies, delivered a lecture on peculiarities of Ukraine’s foreign policy after the Euromaydan.
Denys Kuzmin, Senior Reserch Fellow and Coordinator of the European Studies program at the Center for International Studies, presented the important issues of Ukraine-EU relations.
Also lectures were delivered by other distinguished experts. Professor Olga Brusylovska, the Head of Department of International Relations, Institute of Social Sciences, ONU, paid the attention to Ukraine-Russia relations,
Victor Stepanenko, Leading Research Fellow at the Institute of Sociology, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, spoke about civil society development after Euromaydan,
Solomia Bobrovska, the Deputy Governor of Odesa Regional State Administration, focused on reform process in Odessa region.
