Volodymyr Dubovyk, Director of the Center for International Studies, talked about the US and Ukraine on Hromadske Radio on December 9, 2015.
This conversation has taken place to coincide with the conclusion of the Vice-President J. Biden’s visit to Ukraine. V. Dubovyk has indicated that this visit has sent all the right messages to Ukraine - its government and broader public. The message is of a U.S. standing behind its ally – Ukraine. The message is also that Ukraine should do more in a realm of carrying out the reforms and eradicating the corruption. Both international friends of Ukraine and Ukrainian society itself are getting impatient with regard to the pace of the changes in the country. V. Dubovyk has mentioned a variety of ways through which U.S. helps Ukraine to withstand Russian aggression and undergo economic and societal changes at the same time. At the same time, he has postulated that too much should not be read into the meaning of this visit for the internal Ukrainian political process.
