On November 1 and 2, 2016 prof. V. Dubovyk has participated in the international conference “Exploring the Religious-Policy/Security Nexus in Responding to Critical Contemporary Regional/Global Security Challenges” which was held at St. Edwards University, Austin, Texas.

The conference was co-organized by the Kozmetsky Center of St. Edwards University and Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. It was partially funded by NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division. This conference gathering has focused on defining and discussing the challenges that policy officials confront in attempting to engage productively with religious communities in addressing contemporary critical security challenges and threats. Prof. V. Dubovyk has addressed the impact of religion on the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, ranging from years of active implementation of the "Russian world" ideology to the role of church with regard to the current fighting to the impact that the conflict is having on the orthodox church structures in Ukraine and perspectives of their possible unification.
