In his report Oleksiy Volovych analyzed the Russian foreign policy toward the Syrian conflict. He drew a conclusion that the Russian actions in Syria are hazardous and would damage the Russian interests on the Middle East. According to Oleksiy Volovich, the Syrian campaign will not contribute to achieving the main goal of Russia – decreasing the international isolation, which Russia faces because of its actions in Ukraine.

The participants of the roundtable also discussed the prospects for the development of the Russian-Turkish relations, after Turkey shot down the Russian jet Su-24. They analyzed the possible ways of fighting with the Islamic State and consequences of the events on the Middle East for Ukraine.
